Swollfest Supports Local Arts

Nick Rauber, DDS, currently practices as a dentist with the Aesthetic Dentistry Group in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Nick Rauber additionally functions as founder of the Swollfest Fishing Rodeo, an annual contributor to the American Diabetes Association. Nicholas Rauber established the event when he was only 17 years old.

The Swollfest Fishing Rodeo is a charity event that supports the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). To date, the charity has raised in excess of $500,000 with proceeds going to ADA and MDA, as well as the Grand Isle School. The rodeo gives back to the Baton Rouge community in a number of additional ways.

Every year, the Swollfest board selects a local artist to design and create an event logo to be used on posters, t-shirts, and promotional material. Local artist Rudy RK Rowell served as the organization’s resident artist until his tragic passing in 2009. Since then, his memory has lived on in the Swollfest Artist position. Recent artists include Mickey Asche, Tony Nozero, Lauren Barksdale Hill, Benjamin Bullins of The Benjamin Collection, and Elliot Bowser of L-e-it Designs.
